Introducing the Landcruiser Super Cap 80
A fiberglass pop-top for your Landcruiser 80 Series
Keeping the classic 90's styling, and using Fibermold composites technology™ , we are proud to present the Super Cap 80!
Designed, with the classic curves in mind, yet the functions that are not available on other Landcruiser pop-tops, we started from scratch to redesign, and rethink what a classic pop-top should look and function like.
We really focused on weight, usability and what the the pop-top feels like when you're sleeping in it, and more importantly, how much room you have to move around, and stretch out, even when sleeping.
These Super-cap 80's are designed to be permanently installed on 1990+ Landcruiser 80 series or Lexus LX450 models. Other models launching soon
Over 18" of quadrilateral wedge room at the front
One of our primary objectives was to create a space that feels nice and open, and so that the user can sleep in either direction, without feeling closed in or claustrophobic, and to achieve this we looked at the classic solutions, the Westy wedge top.
But classic Westy scissor systems didn't open the space up enough, so we went back to the drawing board, and completely designed our own scissors from scratch, to allow for the massive 18" of quadrilateral wedge room.
We then took our super-cap scissors to the next level by manufacturing them from stainless steel, adding hardened replaceable hardware with oilite bushings, to provide a smooth and secure scissor hinge mechanism that is also serviceable should the need arise.
7+ feet of standing room at the rear
To compliment our 18" quadrilateral wedge, we took the height of the rear opening just as importantly.
Boasting over 7'8" of standing room at the rear of the Super-cap, this allows for changing clothes, stretching, and plenty of room to get up into the the loft bed, without fear of banging your head. Using heavy duty nitrogen struts, we are able to lift the top into it's highest position, and then lock it in the upwards position if needed or if you're carrying extra weight on the integrated roof racks.
Integrated options; solar, fan and lighting
Internal lighting, usb/c ports, insulation and upholstered finish are standard on all Super-cap 80's, but why not add some additions for extra comfort and usability.
We can install a Maxxair fan towards the rear, along with our own discreet 170 watt solar panel, with hide-away cabling so you don't have to worry about snagging the cables on tree branches, all lighting, solar and fan power wires exit the top at the front passenger side corner just behind the wedge and the light and usb ports are conveniently located mid-roof.
We can also add exterior scene lights, and horizontal l-tracks along the rear and each side, should you want additional exterior tie down points.
Large 79"x"45" dual high-pivot raising sleeping platform
This is not your standard loft bed, this is a thoughtfully designed piece of engineering. Made from aluminum, with l-track slots and stash holes laser cut into place, this bed platform has 4 parts, designed to be very durable with almost zero flex or distortion. With set up and tear down possible within under a minute, you will love the various functions of this system. The front of the platform high-pivots out of the way, and the rear two smaller platforms lift independently, to allow driver or passenger side access to the bed space. Once all the elements are lifted there is only a 4" reduction in space within the Super-cap, and the pneumatics used are designed to not only lift the bed platform, but also the mattress and standard bedding.

Precision engineered substructure
Using 3d scanning software, we are able to produce a roof mounted permanent substructure that fits the lines of the Landcruiser roof seamlessly. This super-cap substructure is powder coated then bolted into place and then sealed with a sealing adhesive for even more structural rigidity.
We do need to cut a large hole in your factory roof, to allow for the integrated loft panel supports, and to maximize useable space. The Super-cap is a permanent solution to your camping needs.
Watertight - triple sealed structure
Zero leaks, and that's important!
Our Super-cap has a proprietary double bulb trim that is made by Trim-Lok, that fits snugly around the perimeter, and once the top is latched down, water cannot pass this trim. Behind that trim is the chassis of the Super-cap, this is sealed with urethane for another barrier against water. Tie that all in with waterproof fabric that we use and your adventures will be dry and cozy.
Internal all aluminum Skeleton
Implementing a precision cnc tube bending machine, along with the talent of some welding artists, we are able to create an internal skeleton, that is not only light, but incredibly stiff.
With integrated internal laser cut l-track slots, the skeleton not only holds the beautiful fiberglass top securely, but also allows for you to hang anything you want or need on the inside of the pop-top, thus increasing useable space even more.
Waterproof, windproof and breathable
Just as importantly as the structure of the the pop-top, is the fabric we chose to make the walls from. We opted for a X-Pac laminated duck fabric, that is waterproof, windproof and breathable, we also taped and sealed all the seams, and installed YKK zippers. Bug screens, windows and insulation pads can be either zippered or velcro'd into place depending on the needs and the seasons.
The entire wall system can be removed by one person should the needs arise too.
Existing headliner retained
Obviously we need to cut a huge hole in the headliner, but where the headliner integrates into the Super-cap, we make it look amazing.
We carefully trim out the old headliner with some fancy cnc upholstery pieces and then edge band it to give an almost factory finish, retaining sun visors, handles, speakers and trim.

But why Fiberglass?
With our years of experience working closely with Tufport in Canada, we have learned some very important things about fiberglass.
Fiberglass is tough...real tough! It is lightweight yet strong. You can beat on it with a baseball bat and it won't dent, it maintains it's structural properties. Fiberglass can be molded to intricate shapes, unlike some metals, and with heat, it won't 'oil can' giving it the un-uniform appearance of other tops. Fiberglass has amazing thermal properties compared to metal, with a natural R5 barrier at 5/16" thick, our tops do not transfer heat anywhere close to metal, then add in our insulation and you have a market leading product.
Oh, and it doesn't leak, that's why boats are made from it.

Specifically designed for the Super-Cap, this 170 watt solar panel has pass-through integrated wiring, to prevent the wires from getting caught in low hanging branches. Designed in our 'donut' style, this solar can also be used in conjunction with a Maxxair fan. Wire exit passenger front.

Premium Paint Package
A factory finish to your Super-cap shell. Instead of going with black or color matched bed-liner finish, we send the shell off to a premium paint shop, where they sand, prime and use the best paint available to finish the shell for a factory look.

What weight Struts do I need?
Use this configurator to figure out what weight struts you need depending on your proposed carry load
Standard Weight
These struts will lift the weight of the top, including fan & solar panel and is the easiest to lift and pull back down.
Medium Weight
These struts are ideal for people intending to carry an additional 100lb on the roof. Without the 100lbs on the roof, these struts make it tougher to pull the top down.
Heavy Weight
These struts are great for people that want to carry up to 125lbs on the roof. Perfect for hauling additional camping gear
